Share a home and devices in the Google Dwelling house app

Important: If yous use the Nest app and oasis't migrated to a Google Business relationship, you manage homes and people who share access to your home with the Nest app.

To organize and manage your devices in the Google Home app, you can create a dwelling. Then, you can invite home members who will share control of the dwelling house and its devices. For case, y'all can put your grouped living room speakers, office lights, and thermostat into a dwelling, and invite your family to be members of that home.

Switch betwixt homes

  1. Open up the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the acme, tap the proper noun of the current home.
  3. Select a new home from the drop-down. If the drib-downwardly icon doesn't appear, information technology means you but take one home in the Domicile app.

​​​​​​Notation: Not all devices tin be moved to a different dwelling house this mode. Speakers, displays, and Chromecast can be moved, only Nest Wifi point and Nest Hub Max can't. Delete a domicile

You tin delete a home from the Home app if you're the but home member.

If yous aren't the only member of a home, you first need to remove all other members from the home with the Google Dwelling app. Otherwise, you can only remove yourself from the home, and the remaining dwelling house members still have access to the home and its devices.

When you delete a home:

  • The habitation is removed from your Google Account.
  • Y'all can't use the Home app to control devices you added to a detail domicile, including lights, displays, speakers, cameras, thermostats, and locks, unless you gear up those devices up again in a new home.
  • Information associated with the dwelling house, such as video history from Nest cameras you might own or thermostat settings, is deleted. Note: Information associated with your Google Business relationship is non deleted if yous delete your abode. Learn how to remove information associated with your account.

To delete a habitation:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Switch to the home you want to delete.

To allow other people, like family unit members or roommates, use the devices in your home, add them as home members.

Only invite people you lot trust to get home members. When someone becomes a member of a home, the following info and settings are shared with them:

Total admission and command of devices and services

  • Add and remove other home members, including you lot
  • Add new devices, like speakers, displays or smart light bulbs
  • Employ and change the settings of the devices in the home
  • Automatically link their media services, like YouTube, to speakers, smart displays and Chromecast built-in devices in the dwelling house

Home activity

  • View activities and events from all devices and services linked to the home

Contact information and abode accost

  • Modify the address of the home
  • View the names and email addresses of everyone in the abode

Assistant features

  • Set up personal results, Vocalization Match and Face Match on existing and new Assistant-supported devices

You can't invite anyone using a:

  • Google Workspace (formerly K Suite) account
  • Google Business relationship for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country)

A maximum of 6 people can share a dwelling.

Invite members to a home

Notation: If the person y'all want to invite has already requested to join your dwelling house, you demand to accept that request instead of sending a new invitation.

Accept someone'south request to bring together your habitation

When someone sends a request to join your home, y'all should receive an email with the invite request and a notification on your mobile device.

  1. Follow the link in the email you received or tap the notification on your mobile device.
  2. To invite a person to join your home, tap Continue. To refuse their request, tapPass up.
  3. You lot should find information most what's shared when you lot add someone to your habitation. To continue, tap Side by side.
  4. Review the person's access to your home and then  tap Ship.
  5. If the person you're inviting is not already in your family group, you should exist asked if y'all'd similar to add them. To invite them to your family unit grouping, tap Add to Family unit. To skip this footstep, tapNo Thanks.

    Annotation: Yous can accept a maximum of half dozen members in a family unit grouping. If y'all already have a full family group, this option doesn't appear.

Remove yourself from a habitation

When you remove yourself from a home:

  • You no longer accept access to the domicile and the devices and services associated with that home.
  • Other members proceed to have access to the home.
  • Other members should no longer accept access to the devices or services you fix, including Nest thermostats, alarms, locks or cameras. If you gear up a Nest Cam with your Nest Hub Max, the Nest Hub Max should also no longer exist available.

    Exceptions: Google Nest Wifi, Google Wifi, Assistant-enabled speakers and displays, and Chromecast devices should still be available to other home members even if you remove yourself from the home.

  • You no longer take access to Nest Aware features, including video history.
  • Other members continue to have access to Nest Enlightened features.
  • Your Google TV account isn't removed from this home. You take to sign out of this account on this home's Google TVs or in account.google.com.
  • If you're the only member of the home, the home gets deleted, including abode data such equally video history footage and thermostat settings.

To remove yourself:

  1. Open the Google Domicile app.
  2. Switch to the domicile you want to edit.
  3. Tap Settings Household.
  4. Tap your account.
  5. At the top right, tap Remove memberand then  Leave home.

Remove other members from a home

When yous remove members from a domicile:

  • They are notified that they were removed from the dwelling house.
  • They no longer have admission to the devices or services in the dwelling house, and their account is no longer linked to the devices.
  • Assistant devices such as speakers and displays, including those gear up upwardly by the removed member, should remain in your home. These devices are no longer linked to the home member you removed.

    Exception: Nest Hub Max might get removed and video history footage could be deleted.

  • They no longer have access to Nest Aware features, including video history.
  • Your Google Idiot box account isn't removed from this dwelling. You lot take to sign out of this account on this home's Google TVs or in account.google.com.
  • If the member y'all remove from the home migrated their Nest Business relationship and Nest devices (such as cameras and thermostats) to a Google Account, those devices may be removed from the dwelling. Data associated with their Nest devices and the habitation may be permanently deleted, including video history footage and thermostat settings.
